Donal Kennedy reports

On Sunday 12th May a party of anglers set out from Killala Harbour for a day’s fishing on board the charter boat Leah. Weather was fine and sea was calm . . . a near perfect day. A few miles out, the skipper drifted over some rocky ground and soon the anglers were catching a variety of different species including coalfish, cod, pollack, ling, pouting and cuckoo wrasse. Mackerel were also caught in good numbers. All returned safely to harbour well pleased with their days fishing.

On Thursday 16th May a French fishing party set out from Killala Harbour to fish Killala Bay. The group was on holidays staying in the Foxford area enjoying fishing the nearby lakes and rivers. So they decided to go for a change and fish Killala Bay for a day. Weather was very good with calm seas. The group had an enjoyable day’s fishing with some cracking pollack along with coalfish and a few mackerel. All returned to harbour well pleased with the day.
