Light south easterly winds and calm conditions persisted for most of the week on Lough Arrow and anglers reported prolific mayfly hatches during the day and good buzzer fishing in the evening.

Local angler, Simon Steel, had three trout, heaviest 2.25lbs. on Grey Wulff and Spent Gnat. Sean Corry and Pat Eyres from Clare had four fish for an evening’s fishing ranging from 2.5lbs. to 4lbs. on Spent Gnat and buzzer patterns, while local angler, Karl Jennings, caught his first trout (2bs.) of the season.  Brendan Smith boated a fine trout weighing over 5 lbs.

Fishing out of John Hargadon Boat Hire, Martin McDaid and friend from Strabane had 14 fish over two days on dry fly all returned. Local angler, Michael Gunning, had 10 fish over 4 days, heaviest at 3.6lbs. on wets and dapping, while James Nolan from Carlow caught four fish over two days, heaviest at 1.75lbs.
