Peter Cunningham from Boyne Valley Fishing Guides has been in contact to let us know that they have been on Lough Sheelin a few times over the last couple of weeks. They report that fishing has generally been tough over the last while but they are getting a few fish all the same.
In addition to some fish around 1.5lbs to 2lbs they have some nice well conditioned fish including a few beautiful trout which were estimated to weigh between 3lbs and 5lbs. All of fish were carefully released unharmed back to the lake.
The hatch of mayfly has been sporadic to say the least and it is reported there has been no massive hatch like last year. Odd drifts of spents are going out but not every evening and the chill in the wind has not helped matters.
