Munster Coarse Anglers report on their latest match, round 5 of the Winter League…

Water Water everywhere….

Finally we got back on the bank after two cancelled matches due storms warnings and our Christmas break. The Shannon was full to to brim and tanking through. We had to sit up on the tow path some 8ft above where we would normally sit.

We had no illusions. It was always going to be a hard match even by O’Briensbridge standards. Flat floats and whips were the first line of attack but were mostly put aside after the hour when a short chuck on the feeder became the only way to secure a few bites as the Shannon’s flow increased steadily throughout the match.

A small catch at O'Briensbridge
Modest bags hard won in very high water conditions
