Having been fixed and cancelled twice due to storms Menapia members finally got the chance to do battle over the weekend.
With western winds and near perfect conditions Rooney Point was the venue as a renowned big bag venue it didn’t disappoint. Treble shots of whiting with dabs and dogs mixed in were there from the start with a slight drop off over high water.

Howard Wang came out on top with a mixed bag of 46 fish for 1,139 points, closely followed for second place by club veteran Joe Carley on 42 fish for 1,032 points, third and fourth place with 42 fish each and just 7 points separating them went to Jerry Carbery and Sean Carley.

Our only junior Mighty Max Roche showed his father JJ how it’s done by snatching an extra fish to give him 34 to 33 fish win and bragging rights on the auld fella.

Longest fish went to Lar Rooney with a 36cm whiting.

Join the Club…

The Menapia Sea Angling Club was founded in 2000, by a small handful of Wexford anglers. It was felt that to retain and grow interest & membership of a successful club, it would have to engage a wide variety shore-angling, that would cater for all. For more information see
