Barry Roche of Browning Fishing Ireland and well known match angler Brian Bohan report on the fishing from the Carrick Festival which was held last week, Dave Rowel coming out on top:

Barry: This week I fished the Carrick festival across 5 venues. Day 1 Kiltybarten, day 2 Cloonahee, day 3 the Mudflats, day 4 Heron’s Shore and day 5 on Lough Scur. I’d never been to the first two venues and I was definitely given a lesson.

All in I’ve finished 4th in my section on three days, 3rd on one day and 1st on Heron’s shore where my 22.6kg was also good enough for a match win so that cheered me up.

Thanks to Dave Pickering for running a great festival and I’m looking forward to next year.

The office

Brian Bohan finished third on 5 points, here’s his take on how things went:

Well that’s the Carrick Festival done and dusted, a great week’s fishing and I ended it with 20kgs off The Rocks on Lough Scur, fishing short pole all day. I’ve had three firsts, a second and a third which gave me 8 points with one dropper, so my 3rd was dropped leaving me with 5 points and tied with Ken Johnson. I’ve had slightly better weights all week so that put me in third place overall!
Not bad at weigh in for Brian
Well done Dave Rowel on 1st – a true gent. Great bunch of lads in my section all week, great company. Thanks to David Pickering for running the event!
