More great fishing to report from west Clare this week, with fishing really picking up as the water temperature increases. Skipper Sean Maguire has been out every day since the weekend with various groups and reports great fishing for mixed species, particularly pollack, with some lovely fish coming aboard.
Luke Aston, skipper of the Clare Dragoon, also reports very good fishing. Over the weekend he ventured west of Loop Head with a couple of groups and reported good catches of mackerel to start, with a nice mix of fish on the reefs – plenty of pollack to 8lbs, lots of handy coalfish of 3 to 4 lbs and even some codling, haddock and whiting. There was also a good sign of ling. Back up the estuary they went to try for a tope with no luck, but bull huss and spurdog were available instead.
