It is great to see angling clubs back holding outings and competitions again.

Galway Bay SAC held their first competition of the year – the Wildhunter Galway sponsored open shore competition took place this past weekend on Whitestrand Beach Co. Mayo.

9 anglers fished the competition on a beautiful day on the west coast.
Bites were hard to come by all the way through with Flounder accounting for 18 out of the 21 fish caught. Biggest flat was caught by Colin Harty at 40cm which went on to contribute to his winning tally of five fish on the day.

There were also a few other nice Flounder caught with over half of the fish caught coming in 30cm plus.
Second place on the day was taken by the ever-present Brian Reidy with Marcin Tomaszek coming in 3rd place.
Brian Reidy pops up in the angling reports again this week, this time with a nice flounder.
This leaves Colin with an early lead in the shortened Club Master angler series this year but with it all to play for still, with the best 4 out of 5 results counting towards the overall score.
