Due to the brilliant sunshine and almost calm weather not many anglers ventured out on the lakes and only a few trout were reported during a few small gaps in the weather.
Ian Craig and his daughter Rachel, from Sligo, had 14 small trout to the boat over 3 days, all released, all caught on small sedges and Bumbles. Rachel had her first trout also for just 1 lb. also released. They fished around the islands outside Bog Bay.
Ian Wise had two small trout after 4 hours fishing in Flannery’s Bay, and stressed the lake was quiet.
Daniel Mulhaire, Ballina, had a trout for 1.25 lbs. while trolling for salmon near Mossop’s Rock on the eastern shoreline of Lough Conn and released it.
In South Conn, Sean Lawlor and Michael Byrne from Mullingar fished for two days with only 4 keepers caught and released again. They were fishing small size 14 dry sedges and Bumbles.
