Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th saw the 41st edition of the FIPSed World Championship Coarse Angling for Clubs which took place on the Bruxelles-Chareloi Canal near Roinquires in Belgium.

It was a tough couple of days for Club BSI Sensas representing Ireland; the squad consisting of Fint Brennan, Conor Browne, Gary Doyle, Enda Hickey and Cathal Hughes led by Gavin Walsh and Shane Kavanagh.

As the team found out during their training days in the build up to the main event, the Bruxelles-Charleroi Canal is a tough venue. Some 34 club teams participated the championship, with Dutch team Maver-Zammatoro winning outright.

Despite the quality and experience of the anglers fishing for Club BSI Sensas, they finished in 30th position – a reflection of the difficult venue and quality of the opposition that they faced. Better luck next time lads.
