The ever-active Killybegs Mariners were out for the second round of their league last week, and 19 anglers enjoyed a spectacular west Donegal sunset as they hit the surf. Flatties and dogs proved to be the most active species during the evening with a couple of decent flounder and turbot propelling anglers up the leaderboard. At the end of the evening, Brian Smith made it two wins in a row with his haul of 4 dogs and two flounder.
Later in the week, club records fell like dominoes, with new species records set for garfish, corkwing wrasse, saury and long spined sea scorpion.
Meanwhile, club member Cormac Burke hit the magic 60 species mark for the year by landing a spray, which brought the club total for the year to 71. 👏 Impressive angling all around!
