The Leinster Pike Anglers held the third leg of their winter league in some very wet weather at the weekend. But anglers can put up with a bit of rain as long as the fish are biting, and luckily for them, that was the case.
They chose to fish in Co. Cavan on five different lakes adjacent to each other, giving anglers the choice to sit and wait it out, or to venue hop in the hope of finding a few hotspots. It seems made the most of the opportunity to cover multiple waters, as there were plenty of pike caught on the day, with the top three anglers catching 31 pike between them while their weights were only separated by 8oz.
Results as follows:
1st….Luke O Ciaran 9 fish for 28lb 1oz
2nd….Marty Lawlor 8 fish for 27lb 15oz
3rd….Jan Rutkowski 14 fish for 27lb 9oz
Sean O’Brien took the heaviest fish prize with a nice double of 15lb 13oz.
