The Irish bluefin tuna season kicked off this week with the first bluefin caught by Dave Bradley aboard “Tigger” operated by Kerry Angling and Tuna Charters fishing out of Cahersiveen, Co. Kerry. The fantastic fish was estimated around the 800lb mark.

Only a few hours later, the first bluefins were caught, tagged and released further north in Donegal Bay by skipper Adrian Molloy of tuna.ie & Killybegs Boat Trips which operates two boats fishing out of Killybegs, Co. Donegal.

Just a day later Declan Killgannon reported the first bluefin tuna for his boat “Kiwi Girl” which is based in Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo.
