Dr. Jacques Bronkhorst took some leave during the week to launch his boat for a bit of saltwater fly fishing. With the unpredictable weather it wasn’t possible to head out in a small boat so the Eire Bass guide Richie Ryan came to the rescue.
Heading into Cork harbour, the professional photographer Kevin Mc Loughlin took the spectacular black and white photo shown above of the two eager anglers. Confined to the harbour a few bass and pollock fell to the fly, nothing spectacular but very enjoyable nonetheless.
The guide managed to hook a starfish on the fly, not an easy task and not a candidate for fish of the week! Kev did bring a pork pie for Jacques and Richie. By all accounts he does make exceedingly good pies!
