The long spell of windy weather saw the Clare Dragoon confined to the Shannon Estuary, with even that not possible on some days last week. Anglers who stuck at it were rewarded with doggies and thornback ray, with some tope caught too.

But it was a new species for the boat, and skipper Luke Aston, that made the week. Markus Muller landed a stingray, the first for him and the first for the boat. Hopefully the first of many, with apparently a few more showing up for other anglers in the estuary in recent times.
