On Tuesday 18th July, Tullamore and District angling club held the first of their annual junior angling competitions on the Grand Canal in Tullamore. The competitions run for four weeks and take place on Tuesday evenings.
Fifteen budding young anglers took to the canal bank for this first event and each of the angling enthusiasts fished under the watchful eye of senior club members, who were eager to offer tips and a helping hand whenever required.
Everyone had a great evening and lots of fish were caught and released safely back to the water. In the end, it was the little women who took all of the honours, with first, second and third places all going to the Carroll girls.
