Montana fly angler learns how to catch trout on the Maigue

Paddy Dunworth of Celtic Angling repots on a trip to the Maigue and Deel at the weekend:

David Lamonilara and his wife Jennifer were leaving Florida as Hurricane Idalia came-a-calling and are enjoying their trip to Ireland. They arrived in Adare this morning from Killarney and David fished with me on the Deel and Maigue whilst Jennifer enjoyed all Adare had to offer.

David’s relatively new to fly-fishing but very keen, never fished upriver or dry-fly but within an hour had bagged his first wild Irish brownie on the Dry-fly, not bad going. He had another 4 rises on the Deel and some small fish at Adare, bright day didn’t help but David can’t wait to get back to Montana to try out his new skills.
