The VDE Baggers Angling Club proudly represented Ireland last week at the World Club Championship held in Brezice, Slovenia. It was a lake venue that could throw up bonus fish, and so that was what the team pinned their hopes on. And all looked rosy at the start of the four days of practice, as the bigger fish were reasonably plentiful, and the lads were catching their share.

But as the competition day neared, those bonus fish became scarcer and scarcer, and it became obvious that targeting big bags of bleak was the only way to have a chance. Unfortunately, they weren’t really set up to do that, and ended up finishing well down the field. However, for a club that’s only three years old to get to a World Champs is a feat in itself, so well done, lads and I’m sure you will have learned a lot for the next time π π π π
