Mackerel have been plentiful enough this week, according to skipper Luke Aston, who reckons it is the best bait for predators, large and small.

Something a bit buigger than megrim was on the agenda earlier this week, when despite lively fresh conditions, a drift with the chum out produced 6 good blue shark to the boat, as well as 2 porbeagles.

Yesterday was a fresher day again,, making for a shorter trip as the weather sent them packing back inshore. But there was a grest sign of sharks, with takes from blues shortly after putting out the rubby dubby. Indeed it wasn’t long before there were sharks biting the bucket! There were also plenty of smaller fish feeding on the bottom and up.
