Cobh SAC reports on the Munster Closed Boat competition held on Sunday…
Twenty-seven Anglers competed in the competition and which was fished outside of Cork Harbour in favourable weather. The anglers fished from 4 charter boats, Camden Mist ,Cuan Ban, Osprey and Deora De.
There was a good quality of fish recorded by the anglers that included Conger, Bull Huss, Ling, Spurdog, Dogfish, Wrasse, Gurnard, Pollack, Coalfish, Pouting, Poor Cod and Black Bream.
Results
- 1st Place and Gold Medal winner was Tom Johnson Carrigaline S.A.C.
- 2nd and Silver Medal Paul O Callaghan Carrigaline S.A.C.
- 3rd and Bronze Medal Cormac Gannon Crosshaven S.A.C.
- 4th Mark Greenwood Cobh S.A.C.
- 5th Dan Lynch Crosshaven S.A.C.
- 6th Pat Condon Carrigaline S.A.C.
The top 5 anglers will represent Munster in the Interprovincial Boat Championship 2025 with the winner as team captain.
Tom Johnson won the Frankie Cronin Shield that was presented by the Cronin Family in his memory. Frankie would have been proud to see Tom the first winner with 9 nine conger to become the Conger King.
The under 21 section was won by Sarah Lynch Crosshaven S.A.C she will be representing Team Ireland in the under 21 World Boat next week in Donegal. We wish her every success.
The team event was won by Carrigaline A; Tom Johnson, Paul O Callaghan, Bob Creber, Stephen Hurley and Brendan O Dwyer.

Notes: With more than 30 years Sea angling experience in hand and having won several national & international sea angling competitions, Pat Condon offers his clients the wealth of his angling skills as part of their experience.
Anglers can fish many reefs near the Cork harbour for ling, cod, conger eel, pollack and coalfish. Shark fishing off Cork Harbour is from mid june to september.
Even if the weather is poor you can fish within Cork harbour for species such as bass, blonde ray and thornback ray, plaice and dabs.
