Hotel Curracloe, Wexford – April 6th 2024 – The Irish Federation of Sea Anglers proudly unveiled the World Championship Shore Angling 2024 during a captivating launch event held at Hotel Curracloe on Saturday, April 6th. This esteemed occasion marked the official commencement of preparations for the upcoming U-16 and U-21 World Championship, set to take place along our beautiful coastline of Wexford from November 2nd to 9th, 2024.
At the launch event, attendees were to an exclusive glimpse of the 2024 Irish Teams introduced by IFSA National Youth Officer, Brian Cooke, alongside their dedicated managers. As anticipation mounted, seasoned anglers seized the opportunity to showcase their specialised equipment and exchange tactical insights with guests. Each member of Team Ireland was honoured with distinctive pins, symbolising their commitment to representing their nation on the world stage.
The atmosphere was further enhanced by the presence of guests, including Mayor John Hegarty, who warmly welcomed attendees from around the world to Wexford and spoke passionately about our beautiful model county. Deputy Mayor Leonard Kelly took to the stage to present the 2023 Irish teams with their trophy from the Netherlands, adding to the excitement and camaraderie of the event. The gesture symbolised the achievements of the past and set the stage for the upcoming world championships.
The event also welcomed Chairman of Wexford County Council John Fleming, representatives from TDs to councillors, Robert Denby from Inland Fisheries of Ireland and Martin McEnroe from the Angling Council of Ireland, alongside the proud family members of the talented young anglers.
Secretary of the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers, John Martin, delivered a stirring address, officially heralding the commencement of the championship’s proceedings. With the stunning backdrop of Wexford’s coastline, renowned for it unparalleled beauty and rich angling heritage, attendees were treated to a glimpse of the warm hospitality and scenic charm that await participants and spectators alike.
The media team from Visit Wexford were also in attendance, capturing the excitement and atmosphere of the event to share with audiences near and far.
