Low angling pressure on the Moy with best of the fishing at Ballina

River Moy Angling Report – week ending 03-08-2025

Overall, angling activity was significantly lower than usual in the Moy for the week. Water levels at Ballylahan dropped slowly but steadily from 0.37 m on Sunday 27th July, down to 0.3 m by Sunday, 3rd August. The past week was drier than normal nationwide, with rainfall totals generally between 40% and 80% of the average. The weather over the coming week will be mixed with rain or showers, though there will be long dry intervals also. 

Moy Fishery

One salmon was caught in the Ridge Pool for the week, weighing 5.5 lbs and caught on the fly.

The angling boat is now available on the Lower Beat, which comprises Polnamonagh, Spring Wells and the Ash Tree Pool. Permits can be secured by contacting the Moy Fishery office at 096 21332 or by email at moyfishery@fisheriesireland.ie

Peter reports of seventeen salmon caught for the week on the worm, spinning and fly with weights from 4 lbs to 5 lbs and the best weighing in at 7lbs.
