With just a few foggy days left of 2024 Jim Clohessy of TopFisher.eu took the decision to make a run on the last weekend of the year…
Today’s run nearly didn’t happen. Had decided not to run as the forecast was borderline in many respects.

When push came to shove this morning we decided that a sniff about would be better than the alternative! So began a frantic boat prep including a half arsed wash down. It was just around 10am when we hit the water. We headed outside the harbour to be greeted with a rather messy sea. There was a good bit of fog about as well.

We decided to have a scratch around on some inshore reefs rather than taking a beating heading further offshore.
The reefs were fishing reasonably well. No very big fish but a decent variety. All welcome for what’s the last trip of 2025.
We used 50-60g lures all day. Crazy Paddle tails in various colours were the best lure on the day. We caught a lot of pouting. Would it be the case that there was a lack of pollack so they could get to the lures better?
All told we had an enjoyable few hours. Nice to get a run on that lovely motor as well.
Happy New Year to you all and may you have bendy rods every time you get out next year
