Mick Flanagan of Midlands Angling and Shooting has been fishing hard this week, for both trout and pike.
Early in the week, Mick and old pal Frank had some lovely fishing on Lough Lene, where the trout were active and hitting lures hard over deeper water.
Later in the week, Mick’s pal James Murray returned from New York once again to target pike on the fly. Unfortunately though, his few days of pike fishing got off to a slow start, as the guys had just a few jacks with no sign of a bigger fish at all during a long day on the water. Any fish that followed the flies or lures were just plucking at them and not interested in hitting them hard. One pike that was seemingly hungry was the one that took a bite at the one decent fish that James landed!
