Carrick Beach & Rockers made the trip west to Donegal to fish the well-known ray venue of Fahan beach last week for the 6th leg of their monthly master angler league.

7 members plus a guest angler braved the horrendous weather that was mentioned during the week and that the venue would be full off freshwater. So our surprise we arrived to a flat calm sea and pleasant weather. Peg draw done at 12pm and we all made our way to the pegs to get set up for 1pm start.
First casts away and within 20 minutes the rays made their presence known all falling to mackerel baits apart from Jonah who somehow managed to pick his up on a ragworm.
Fish where coming in steady until the tide run stopped and over low tide not much happened apart from 2 mackerel making an appearance to George and Jonny.
Once the tide started to turn the fish started to slowly return and Graeme finally managed a fish coming up to the last hour when his rid near went for a swim with some of us at the top of the beach thinking a tope had picked him up but no was a thornback ray thinking it was a tope lol.
Lines up at 6pm with Jonny pulling a ray on the last cast and Rein with a monster spider crab.
