Anglers Noel O’Dowd and Tom Skerrit had a great day out last week. The pair were tench fishing at a Leitrim venue and they had caught some lovely fish. Between the two of them they caught 8 really good tench, every one of them over 5lb. Noel and Tome were fishing with method feeder, maggots and sweetcorn, using a 10lbs main line with 6 lbs leader with size 14 hook. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.

The tench fishing this year has veered towards exceptional despite the odd weather patterns. Reports like this have come from a good number of counties with lakes, ponds and canal venues all producing good fish. There’s probably never been a better time to try for a tench.

Go fishing…
