The opening match of the season for Edenderry Coarse Angling Club took place on the canal in excellent conditions, with strong water levels and good colour creating high expectations among the 27 anglers in attendance. Despite the promising setup, fishing proved challenging, as many competitors struggled to build consistent catches throughout the day.
The match was divided across two sections, with Padraig O’Riordan producing the best overall performance to secure victory from an end peg against a strong field of anglers. Dara Finnegan finished second, followed by Finn McCarthy in third place.
A special thanks was extended to Mc Intyre’s Jewellery Exchange for sponsoring the event with a €100 contribution added to the winner’s prize fund. Appreciation was also shown to Larkins for providing breakfast for all anglers before the competition.
