Charter skipper Hamish Currie reports on some recent fishing for his clients fishing out from Red Bay in Co. Antrim.
“Last week I had dutch anglers and some nice specimens were caught and of course the lads wanted to try their luck at the porbeagle sharks so we gave them a go and am pleased to report they haven’t left the building just yet, we returned to the deep water reef north of Rathlin Island and action wasn’t as good as it had been on previous trips ling, conger, coalfish, pollack featured in the catch but the goal was this lovely porbeagle shark captured by Pieter from Holland another 2 were hooked up one spat the hook and again the other went to ground on the reef resulting in another break off. I believe that there is a record fish on that particular piece of ground as I have seen sharks under the boat well over 3 meters. Time will tell I suppose.”
