Have you caught a shark, skate or ray in Ireland? It doesn’t have to be a monster. From Spurdogs to Stingrays and Thornbacks to Threshers, even the humble Dogfish. If you have ever caught a shark, skate or ray we want to hear your opinions. Complete our short survey and you could win an angling voucher worth €50.
‘Who are we?’ you may ask. Sharks le Chéile is a new initiative set up by researchers at Trinity College Dublin, in partnership with Inland Fisheries Ireland and the Marine Institute, to bring together members of the angling community and other public stakeholders with scientists studying sharks, skates and rays around Ireland. One of our main aims is to promote sustainable angling and better protect our unique shark and ray resources.
As part of this goal, we’re currently running a survey covering the angling practices, target species, conservation views and angling-related expenditure for anyone who catches or targets sharks, skates or rays in Irish waters.
We need your views to help us to understand which species are most important to anglers, as well as the benefits of angling to coastal communities and the wider economy, and the opinions of the angling community on important issues such as conservation and promotion of angling.
Your voice on key issues matters to us and will be taken into account in future management decisions. All entrants will be in with a chance to win one of twenty-five €50 vouchers from participating angling stores, so you might just bag a prize in the process.
