15-year-old Jack Monaghan from Athlone was fishing a junior pike competition on Sunday 28th June on the River Shannon, accompanied by his father Martin. He was fishing just south of the weir wall when he hooked into what felt like a huge pike while using a Guppi lure. The pike turned out to be a smashing fish of 116cm, which is a club record fish for downriver. Needless to say, Jack was over the moon with his super catch, and dad Martin was pleased as punch too!!!
