Lough Key is a large lake with a very good stock of pike. The lake produced the Irish record on the 11th of April 1993 at 39 lbs. 3 ozs and frequently records specimen pike to 20+lbs.  The lake also holds a very good stock of  bream to 5lbs, roach and hybrids. The best areas for coarse fishing area Doon shore, Erris bay and the Knockvicar side of the lake.

HOW TO GET THERE: Forest Park: From Boyle take  the N4 road east of Boyle for about 2 miles, turn left into the Forest Park following the sign posts.  Doon shore: Take the N4 west for about 2 miles and follow the sign posts, turning right onto Doon shore.

Both areas have car parking facilities, a slipway to launch a boat and fishing stands. Open shore fishing is possible. There is good access for pike fishing from these points.
