Lindsey Clarke reports from Lough Melvin – Monday 1st  April to Sunday 7th April 2013.

Lough Melvin was quiet over the week with little angling effort once again in the cold conditions. The Lough remains very low especially given the time of year. There was no trout angling effort it seems and a limited number of boats out for salmon although 7 boats ventured out on Sunday. There were a couple of salmon reported. On Thursday, Noel Johnston recorded a 7lb salmon caught trolling off Ward’s Point in the Rossinver Fishery. On Sunday, Brian McEvoy accounted for a 10lb salmon caught trolling.

The forecast is for conditions to improve towards the weekend with air temperatures rising as the winds swing round to the south. Hopefully this will encourage flies to hatch and anglers to venture out!
