Donal Kennedy reports
A party of anglers from Co. Mayo set out early on Saturday morning 27th May for a day’s fishing in Killala Bay. The day was dry with moderate to fresh winds from the north east. The first couple of drifts produced coalfish and some nice pollack and, as the day moved on more pollack and coalfish were caught together with a few mackerel which were scarce enough. During the second half of the day, drifts over sandy ground produced good numbers of flat fish and some ray. However, one angler of the party will definitely remember the day out on Killala Bay catching his first ever cuckoo ray which was returned alive.
