KILMORE QUAY AND SOUTH WEXFORD
Deep Sea Angling: A fleet of licensed charter boats operate from the Harbour in Kilmore Quay. Species caught are cod, wrasse, haddock, tope, pollack, spurdog, ling, bass, coalfish etc. Very strong tides in this area.

Small Boat: Good launching facilities at Kilmore Quay. Up top 40 species available with main target fish being tope, cod, wrasse and bass. Some sheltered fishing around Saltee Islands.
When to Fish: Best period for tope July to September. Winter months for cod. June- September best months for bass.
Comments: Hosts the longest running Small Boats Festival annually with over 30 species required to win. This area is also renowned for its good cod fishing. Excellent facilities in the marina enables boat fishing all year. Irish record flounder (Ballytiegue) pouting, red mullet and smooth hound held in this area.
Deep Sea Angling: Three licensed deep sea charter boats based in Dunmore East. Also one boat based in Duncannon and the other in Ballyhack. Reefs yield ling, pollack, coalfish, cod, conger and pouting. Excellent cod fishing in the estuary October to Easter.
Shore Fishing: Some of the beaches produce catches of bass off Duncannon, Dollar Bay and Woodstown. Codling caught up to Waterford Quays during the winter months. Twaite Shad available in large numbers at St. Mullins during spring tides in May.
Small Boat: Small boat anglers will see their best catches of codling, whiting and dabs during the winter months.
When to Fish: Twaite Shad are caught in May. Codling are caught during the winter months.
Comments: Irish record Twaite Shad held in St. Mullins with a fish weighing 1.54kg. The month of December and January provide sport from the quays in Waterford.
Deep Sea Angling: Up to three deep sea licensed charter boats at Dungarvan & Helvick. Species available during the summer months are blue shark, pollack, ling, cod, coalfish etc. Some of the offshore marks and wrecks offer quality catches of conger.
Shore Fishing: The main target species are bass, flounder, dogfish, pollack and mackerel. The inner harbour on the Ballinacourty side offers catches of bass, flounder and dogfish.
Small Boat: Some small boat angling in the sheltered confines of the inner bay sees catches of bass, flatfish, dogfish and occasional ray.
When to Fish: September to December for bass. Blue shark June to October. Best months for flounder October to January.
Comments: In general a good area for bass and flounder. Bottom fishing, spinning, plugging and fly fishing are the best methods. Recent summers have seen an influx of Gilthead Bream at the harbour mouth.
Deep Sea Angling: One deep sea charter boat available. This centre offers blue shark, ling, pollack, conger, pouting and whiting. Has always been renowned as a prime area for cod fishing.
Shore Fishing: The Blackwater estuary offers good shore fishing for flounder, bass and codling.
Small Boat: Lower harbour for flounder, bass, dogfish, codling and mackerel.
When to Fish: Blue shark July to October. Flounder and codling October to January.
Comments: Renowned in previous years for its excellent cod fishing off Capel Island. Shore anglers can see good catches of codling and flounder in the lower Blackwater estuary.
