The Aughrim River joins with the Avoca below the picturesque village of Woodenbridge, Co. Wicklow. It contains good stiocks of wild brown trout with many of the fish being around 12ozs but larger trout often feature in anglers catches. The Aughrim River has good fly hatches including olives and sedges.
The river is overgrown in places and access can be difficult.
Angling is controlled by the local Angling Association and riparian owners and details on access to beats can be obtained locally.
