Bass anglers fishing from the shore have had what only can be described as a difficult season. Many factors contribute to this including onshore winds.

In recent days there has been a noticeable improvement in numbers of bass taken by shore anglers on the Wexford and Wicklow beaches. Oisin Cahill had a fine 6lbs bass on crab at Kilcoole beach during the week. Kilgorman produced 3 bass between 3lb and 5lbs to a Dublin angler fishing at the mouth of the river. The bass fishing has picked up on the Wexford beaches particularly in South Wexford.

Crab is the number one bait, however lug has also worked well. The extended warm Autumn has allowed anglers using lures and plugs to capitalize on these late run bass with some bass even being recorded in Dublin.
