Kevin Lyons reports on a party of English anglers from Blackpool who fished on waters near Melview Lodge in Longford.
Neil, Dave and Alan from Blackpool with over 25 years experience fishing Ireland were on their annual fishing trip to Ireland and stayed once again with Kevin and Jane at Melview Lodge in Longford, prebaiting and fishing a few venues produced some good Bream, Hybrids and Roach. Top weight was 110 lb. which considering the weather and levels was not to bad, Kevin said when these guys come for their fishing holiday they know how to enjoy themselves and have a good time. I even had the pleasure of their company when they invited me along to the races for the evening and it was great, the lads said that’s what a fishing holiday is all about being able to fish and take in some of the local attractions on offer. Thanks for a good week lads and see you next year.

Fishing in and around the Longford area has been good considering the recent weather conditions and water levels, certain venues have been slow to produce due to the lack of food being introduced this due to lack of anglers. However some anglers have been patient and prebaiting swims and the fish have come in to feed, weights to 110 lb. using mainly feeder approach have proved to be the most productive. Water levels on some places are still a little high but conditions have greatly improved over the last few days, we will report next week on how anglers at Melview lodge have managed to get on.
