Good numbers of coarse fish are still being caught onĀ Lough Ramor in Virginia in Co. Cavan. The harbour continues to produce hybrids, skimmers and roach. Most anglers opt for fishing the waggler with maggots for hook bait making this an ideal location for children to handle coarse fish.
Skeagh LakeĀ near Bailieborough in Co. CavanĀ produced good numbers of silver fish for Chris McGregor last weekend. Chris prebaited a swim and recorded good numbers of silver fish and a couple of bream to 4lb weight.Ā Castle LakeĀ just outside BailieboroughĀ is also producing coarse fish. The exceptionally mild weather had coarse anglers out in good numbers. Using brown crumb, castors and hemp for ground-bait and double red maggot as hook bait, feeder fishing, a local angler had 4kg of mixed coarse fish during the week.
On theĀ Royal Canal at Enfield oneĀ Dublin angler reported some very good coarse fishing. Float fishing a lightly baited swim using the lift method, he was surprised when he landed a 7lb bream.
