Andrew Helliwel had a great trip over to Ireland. He and his angling friends stayed at Tully’s Cottages at Whitegate from 15-22 September and had some really good fishing after a pre baiting in the evenings.

The most productive tactic was a double worm over a bed of brown crumb, sweet corn and hemp and wheat. They caught plenty bream from the magnificent Lough Derg that were in pristine condition. Fishing was limited to late in the afternoons due to clear water and sunny/windy conditions during the last couple of days, but they had good results.

If your prepared to graft out a few pegs of the shore lines of Tully’s cottages there’s some phenomenal fishing to be done. Andrew was disappointed he didn’t come prepared for night fishing as he was sure he would have been into triple figure weights. But as they say you live and learn and next time Andrew says they will be well kitted out.
