Dorothy Minogue Landers from Clondanagh Cottage in East Clare reports:
Mark Shoesmith, from Cambridge, a guest at Clondanagh Cottage with great bream catch in an East Clare Lake. Mark caught total of 27 bream, on June 2nd… average weight 5lb. Estimated bag weight 125 lb., his 2nd best catch ever in Ireland.
Mike was fishing with some friends and swims were very heavily prebaited the night before. Sweet corn, chopped worm and frozen red maggots (that are stored in the freezer at Clondanagh) were added to the crumb mix. About 30 (tennis ball) sized balls were fed in the night before at dusk. The anglers were on the lake by 7am and started catching immediately. All the bream were taken on red maggot. Due to the weather conditions, the Lake completely switched off by midday. At this lake, the use of chest waders was compulsory on the good bream swims!
