INLAND FISHERIES ISSUE WARNING OVER SALMON POACHING IN CONNEMARA
Inland Fisheries Ireland is warning that action will be taken against anyone found poaching and netting salmon in the Connemara region.
It follows the discovery of a net at a fishing complex in Screebe this week.
Fisheries managers and scientists have been concerned for years about the declining numbers of salmon returning to the Irish Coast.
Wild Salmon is now managed on a river by river basis as opposed to a national or district district basis.
It’s understood several cases of salmon poaching across Galway will come before the courts in the coming months.
