Andrew Ryan of Clonanav Fly Fishing reports on the River Suir:
Sept 8th: In the last few days water levels have started to slowly drop back. Most days we have been meeting a few fish on the runs. Yesterday local angler Jim Flinders had a good day on our beat getting 3 fish on the fly the best fish being around 18lbs. Unfortunately this one was lost at the net. Not many fish are being seen but with the bright sunshine we are mainly getting fish early in the morning before the sun gets too bright.
Below Jim Flinders into a good fish. Water levels are perfect at the moment.
The most successful techniques have been using intermediate lines and small tube flies. A small amount of rain has been forecasted for next week, which should hopefully encourage more fish to run.
