Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) has said proposals for new salmon fish farms in Galway, Donegal and Mayo should be put on hold. The statutory body responsible for the protection and conservation of the inland fisheries resource released a statement on Friday expressing concerns about the impact of new fish farms on the stock of wild trout and salmon.
