THERE WERE fishy goings on at Ballymoney beach when Coastwatch Ireland held a Marine Day.The event was opened by Nessa Childers MEP as those in attendance created a ‘fish’ out of materials found on the shore. They also created a ‘ human fish’ on the beach for the cameras.

Various coastal and marine activities were organised on the afternoon including a treasure hunt, and a guided shore walking trail. The participants also created some shore art. An IFI Sea bass Information Plaque was also unveiled by John Flynn of IFI on the day, which included information on the fish and Ireland’s exemplary conservation measures for it.
