Carlow Coarse Anglers complete Water Safety in Clonmel
Senior committee members of the Carlow Coarse Angling Club recently made the journey to Kilsheelen in Co.Tipperary to take part in a Water Safety Course being ran by the Angling Council of Ireland. As a river based activity it was noted very important that several members of the club should attend and take part in the course which also included the schooling on safety statement’s and other aspects of general river usage and safety. Several disciplines throughout the angling community were represented from Sea anglers, Salmon and Trout anglers through to the Coarse anglers all coming together under the umberella of the Angling Council of Ireland. Mr mcstraw a well known Angling Guide in the Carlow area and senior executive committee member of the National Coarse Fishing Federation was also joined on the course with fellow N.C.F.F.I. senior member and author Brian Bohan from Leitrim who was quoted as saying the course is vital to all clubs in the country, Mr Bohan also said that it was an honour to work along side the Carlow Coarse Angling Club who had four people on the course and thanked the Angling Council of Ireland for running the course.
Carlow Coarse Angling Club chairman mr Gerry mcstraw added that the Water Safety course was vital to committee members as the club are running another programme on the town stretch of the river in April thru to May. Special thank’s must go to Mr Bob Seward and Mr Der Casey chairman of the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland along with Philip Maher and the other Angling Council of Ireland committee who put the Water Safety course together.
