Colm Lynch reports that the River Boyne has seen the best salmon run in many years. Anglers have reported numerous big fish being observed and caught and released in the Navan area. Numerous other reports have also been received from other sources of good numbers of salmon being taken on many other areas of the River. When the conditions were correct good numbers of fish and in particular big fish have been taken with a number of reports of fish over 20 lb being caught and returned.  Fish have fallen to all methods including shrimp, spin and fly. Great to see the big numbers of fish in the system. Unfortunately, as the river is in flood at the time of writing this will spell the end of the season as the Boyne closes on Sunday and will not have time to clear.
