Bernard Devenney from the Dundalk Salmon Anglers reports that Salmon fishing on the Fane has been improving steadily and during the last week. There has been an increasing number of Salmon being caught and some good fish have been lost as well. From now until the end of the season (12th. October) Salmon will be arriving back into the river from their feeding grounds in the North Atlantic and the larger fish coming back from the west coast of Greenland. With very high tides over the coming weekend and into next week we should see a good run of fish, this is the time of the year that the Fane fishes really well. Shown below is a photo of the winner of The Irene Quinn Cup fished for last Sunday, John Harmon from Drogheda and runners up Brendan Rice and David Crawley both from Dundalk with the Salmon they caught.
