The sheet of water
The sheet of water has continued to fish well over the last week. Anglers have had success with several fly patterns including blobs, boobies, goldheads and a variety of lures.
Perhaps a little surprisingly fish continue to feed on or just below the surface especially if the day is mild. Even more remarkable was the substantial hatch of Blue Winged Olives during the week with fish seen to come up to snaffle this delicacy.
For anyone less familiar with fly fishing we also offer spinning on this stretch of water although spinners must have ‘trebles’ removed and be reduced to a single hook (Carton House has a selection of spinners set up this way for visiting anglers).
