Shaun Hegarty reports that it was a quiet week, angler-wise, at Curragh Springs, due largely to the weather with frost dominating the week. The lake froze over in places, some areas remained ice free with plenty of scope for fishing. Those anglers who did venture out were rewarded with some cracking fish. The slight rise in temperature towards the end of the week led to an excellent day on Saturday. Many fish are still in the top 3-4 feet of water and some anglers were taking fish on floating lines particularly on Thursday, Garreth Jepson pictured landing 23 fish over four hours. Most fish were taken on small lures with the usual favourites doing well, along with some Nymphs. Best patterns included,Dancer, Cat’s Whisker, Damsel, Buzzer, Bloodworm, Diawl Back and Hare’s ear.The weed has died back now, fast sinking lines with Lures are working well.

Opening Hours: 9am till dark.
