Bright and calm conditions were not ideal for the trout trolling competition organised by Garrykennedy Fishing Club on Lough Derg on Sunday last (25 March). Just seven fish were weighed. The winner was Mike Kennedy with a fish of 2lbs 14ozs. Mike Moloney, who had two fish, was second with the greatest weight, 2lb and 1lb 3ozs. Third was Denis Seymour who also had two fish, 1lb 8¼ ozs and 1lb 2 ¼ozs. Nichole Ryan, daughter of club member Eddie Ryan, took the juvenile prize with a fish of 1lb 6¾ ozs. Peter Ahern had a fish of 1lb 3 ¼ozs.
The club is hosting its next trout competition on this Sunday April 1. The event is being sponsored by Jerry O’ Brien of Irish Slate Supplies.
